Free knitting pattern: Toddler Socks (toe-up)

Knitted baby sock patternThese are simple toe up socks. I used scraps of sock yarn and 2.5 mm circular needles. These socks fit my (large!) 9 month old.

Cast on 16 in a figure of eight.
Knit one round
Round 1: for each needle: k1, kfb, knit to last two sts, kfb, k1
Round 2: knit all sts on both needles
Repeat these two rounds until you have 34 sts in total
Knit 17 rounds straight

I use the Fleegle heel as I find it’d the quickest and easiest.
Round 1
Needle 1 (gusset needle): k2, kfb, knit to last 3 sts, kfb, k2
Needle 2: knit all sts
Round 2
Knit all sts on both needles

Repeat these two rounds until there are 34 sts on your gusset needle

Working on just the gusset needle:
Knit to centre, place stitchmarker, k2, k2tog, k1, turn
Slip 1 Purl to 2 sts beyond marker, p2tog, p1, turn
Slip 1, knit to gap, k2tog to close gap, k1, turn
Slip 1, purl to gap, p2tog to close gap, p1, turn

Repeat last 2 rounds until all sts are done
You will have 2 more sts on your gusset needle than what you started with – decrease in the next round to get back to your original count

K1P1 rib until your socks are as long as you want them to be
Bind off – I use Jeny’s surprisingly stretchy bind off as I find it works best for me
