If you like fairly mindless knitting but don’t want to do a plain stockinette sock, this is the pattern for you. There is an eight row repeat, six rows of which are just knit so it’s easy to remember. The pattern is called sailing because the holes remind me of portholes and the dashes remind me of waves.
This is a toe-up pattern, however you can just as easily knit it cuff-down – the pattern will be upsidedown but still be attractive.
The pattern calls for a stitch count in multiples of 4 plus 2. Any heel can be used meaning these socks can easily be adjusted for fit.
